Four students from Combat Athlete/Gracie Barra Telford Academy took part in their first ever Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition at the Hereford Open last weekend and all come back with medals.

Travis Cooper (9) won Bronze, Maya Pemberton (8) won Gold, Hugo (7) won silver and Harvey Lloyd-Goffin (9) got bronze.

Coaches Corin and Tristan Smith who are both World and European champions themselves teach the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class on a Saturday mornings at Combat Athlete in Ketley have been preparing them for the competition over the last few months.
“They were all very nervous as it was their first competition and for them to all come back with medals was amazing” said head coach Corin. “To see them grow in confidence and achieve something they never though they could makes my job worthwhile. I love to train my students to develop life skills and see them grow as kids”.
